When it comes to photoshoots the word “boudoir” brings up all kinds of cringe-worthy connotations. Hotel rooms, contrasty lighting, scandalous lingerie, cleavage everywhere. Haha… It is my new mission to change the perceptions of boudoir, or as I would rather call them, beauty sessions. Lace for days, more conservative posing… a place where you can fully relax (I am good at this part!) and capture you in this stage of life and all of it’s glory.

Another aspect of these shoots that I love is using meaningful items. Michelle’s husband is in the Army so she snuck his jacket and dog tags out of the house for a few hours! Anytime we can add personality to the images it’s a win in my book!

I also try to shoot dainty details, like Michelle’s wedding ring, into the mix so you can frame them and not have to have all images tucked away. I focus on hands, collarbones, hair, etc to take a more fine art approach and balance out the set.

It has been tough because while I shoot these all the time for brides I can never share the images. I will get the most beautiful photos that I am over-the-moon about but have to keep them to myself. A friend of mine was kind enough to allow me to shoot her so you guys can see what these are about. Thank you for letting me share some of your images, Michelle!
