Treasure Hunting

“And at the end of the day, your feet should be dirty, your hair messy and your eyes sparkling.” -Shanti

I get behind this quote 100%. The last few weeks I was so thrilled that my mom and sister got to meet Hunter! We spent several days playing around Savannah. Of course I HAD to take them treasure hunting, which is my favorite thing to do right now. Any day that I comb the coastline for lost goodies is a winner in my book. I’m a total pirate, no denying it. Savannah is the perfect place for it, too! The coastline is shaped so that everything lost in these historic waters washes up and is pretty easy to find if you simply look for it. Most of the day I end up completely covered in marsh mud with my hair all tangled from the wind and that is A-OK with me. This particular treasure hunting day we headed to the islands to one of my favorite places to find bottles. I can’t tell you how excited I get to find an old glass bottle wedged in the marsh. This one is from the early 1900’s. I love washing the mud away to inspect it for any markings and clues to it’s former life.

I have learned that I can’t have “cute boots.” The second adventure calls, I am all in regardless of the day’s chosen footwear. It’s okay, though… I have learned that acquiring memories and experience is always better than collecting things! What are shoes for if not taking you wonderful places?
