Taking the Dukes’ family portraits at Butterbean beach was my kind of adventure. When Katy contacted me for family portraits and told me about how she just wanted her daughter to play in the marsh and for me to capture her just being a child growing up in this area I was all. about. it. Butterbean beach is a great place for family portraits in Savannah, Georgia because it allows for safe (and not so muddy) marsh access when the tide is right.
My favorite part of shooting family sessions is capturing meaningful detail shots and special relationships between the child and each parent. I think that those are just invaluable! It makes me wish that portraiture of this kind existed when I was growing up. These photos are such a treasure. I also love that they brought their dog so I could document her with their family. It was so quick and easy to capture them together.
