Last year in the pandemic when the gardening bug really kicked in I bought some lavender and had dreams of laying beside it and dreaming I was in Provence instead of locked down at home in a raging pandemic 🤣 The lavender quickly burned up, just like my dreams of going to France at any point in the near future.
This year I read a tip regarding how to keep lavender alive in zone 8B and quite honestly it’s brilliant and so far is working beautifully. When I dug the hole to plant the lavender starts I put an inch of sand in the bottom of the hole. Lavender thrives in full sun & doesn’t like wet roots. It needs well draining soil. I planted them as companion plants to my English roses, which require thorough watering daily. This is the simple solution!!!!
The lavender started blooming within two weeks and I am basking in the scent every chance I get. Honestly several times a day I make an excuse to “go check on the plants real fast” and run my hands through the lavender. Gosh it is incredible. It’s the next best thing to not being able to travel abroad now! ❤️
