Summerour Wedding with a Little Help From My Friends | Janna & James

FILED IN: Weddings

I really love weddings. This is no secret! My favorite part of the entire process is sort of “adopting” couples and getting to treasure their special moments right along with them. It is such a privilege to take photos that not only encapsulate one very important day- but create the very items that generations will lovingly gaze at for years and years and years to come. I have been incredibly blessed with my business over the last few years. My big bucket list items were to move to Savannah (check!) and go full time with my business (check!) It’s been a whirlwind. In order to maintain value I only accept twenty weddings per year. I feel like that is my solid number to where I can keep things intentional and give my clients the attention that they deserve. Over the last year I have sadly had to turn down some weddings in the Atlanta area due to demand and travel restrictions at that time and I was pretty bummed to miss out on those moments. Especially when they were couples like Janna that I had previously photographed. I still wanted to be a part of their story and creative process. Then my associate program was born.

During my years of working in Atlanta I became friends with some incredible photographers. Truly wonderful people with big hearts and insane talent. Over the years we have shot weddings and grown together. Throughout my time shooting weddings in Atlanta I fine tuned my preferred shooters because they have a similar style and are completely trustworthy. Two of these are Melissa and Emily. They are great people who are a blessing to everyone they interact with. Melissa and I have teamed up for many, many weddings and she is my girl! I always have those ever-present photographer thoughts when editing her images “oh my gosh I totally wouldn’t be surprised if my client chooses THIS killer image as her favorite!” Hahaha. We have a bond that surpasses our jobs and I am so proud of her. Melissa has a job aside from photography that she loves, so she hasn’t been in a hurry to solely rely on weddings. Then there’s Emily. I can not rave enough about this girl. She is very young and is the epitome of a natural born artist. That girl is as good with a paintbrush as she is a camera. She loves shooting film like me and has big dreams of having a killer career doing what she loves. She is just a freshman at GSU and I fully expect her to go on and really shake up the photography industry. One to watch for sure. After just doing life with these friends we discovered that a collaboration was mutually beneficial for all of us. They want to shoot more in the Atlanta area. Especially with Emily- she wants to learn and some guidance into this field and I am so happy to help. After completing Janna’s wedding together my jaw dropped to the floor and I immediately thought that I honestly would trust them to shoot my own wedding. I loved that I still got the first look at their beautiful moments. I loved seeing my friend become a step mother- the happiness in their eyes made me lose it when I imported the pictures. I am proud to offer my associate wedding packages who those of you in the Atlanta area who feel you may be a good fit. Because their operating costs are a little lower than mine these packages are more affordable. But on our end we are striving to constantly put so much value and teamwork into this. The images and Janna’s review speaks for itself. I still shoot the pre-wedding shoots, organize the timeline and such… my team shoots the wedding and then I complete the edits to my style. It just works. I was not looking to start this it honestly just blossomed all by itself. Read our bride- Janna’s review of our associate program:

“I had the pleasure of meeting Callie when she was just launching her career as a brilliantly gifted professional photographer. I knew that she would be a huge success, and boy was I right. As I saw her blog posts and website flourish, I just knew that I would be looking to her for all of my future photography needs. When Jimmy proposed to me, the one (and probably the only!) thing I didn’t have to plan/shop for/think about was asking Callie to shoot our wedding. There was, however, a problem with this. Jimmy and I had a 4 month (yes, a very short) engagement! I knew that Callie would be booked, but I asked her anyway… She ended up being booked for our wedding weekend, but she suggested I try having her associates shoot it. At first, because I was so bummed she couldn’t be there herself, I was a little hesitant to give it a try. But Callie gave me more than enough confidence that Melissa and Emily rocked. She sent me their portfolios, and I was shocked. They really did rock! Callie assured me that she would be taking the raw photos from the girls’ cameras and editing them herself… and knowing Callie’s perfect eye for editing, I was sold. Yes, I was sad not to have Callie there in person to share our special day, but I was still glad to have her associates there representing her photography style and great judgment of light and shadow.
I would confidently and comfortably recommend Melissa and Emily. They were great to me, great to my family and bridal party, great to the other vendors at the wedding, great to the guests, and well – just overall great. They helped to make the big day easier, stuck to the schedule (they kept me on schedule too!), and got great, priceless shots while remaining ultimately invisible, like little photography ninjas! At the end of the night, I couldn’t help but be thrilled and excited about seeing the finished product!! That finished product is completely amazing and priceless. Everyone I’ve shown compliments the skills of the photographer. I will certainly recommend Callie, Melissa, and Emily (and the associate program) to everyone I know. Love, Janna”
